Gold Coast Film Festival 2015 Breaks Several Milestones

-

It is hard to believe, but the Gold Coast Film Festival concluded its main 2015 more than a month ago. With a new festival hub (The Arts Centre Gold Coast) and a large number of films screening, decisions made by the festival’s creative team and board members seem to have paid off for the event.

It has been confirmed that Gold Coast Film Festival 2015 was the “most successful to date”, bringing in over 12,600 people/tickets sold and reaching its targeted growth increase of 20%. Film attendance also jumped an impressive 178% on 2014 figures.

It is currently uncertain if or when special Gold Coast Film Festival screenings will be held throughout the remainder of this year. However, with some of the film choices on offer this year, I am eager to see what they have to offer during future events.

We are so pleased with the attendance figures for this year. The decision to be based at The Arts Centre Gold Coast was key; it’s a great location for the film festival and provided a hub for films, our REELLIFE panels and workshops and events such as our movie trivia night. It became a true festival destination.

I think this year we also got the mix of films right for our audience. We selected a diverse selection of films with something for everyone, from Australian sci-fi to environmental documentaries to dramas to foreign language films.

We also focused on building our partnerships and this helped us expand with events all over the coast from Coolangatta to Helensvale, helping to make screen culture accessible to as many Gold Coast residents and visitors as possible”
