Crunchyroll has confirmed that The Irregular at Magic High School THE MOVIE -Yotsuba Succession Arc- will receive a limited theatrical release in the United States and Canada this November. The latest film in The Irregular at Magic High School franchise will screen for three days only, on 1, 3 and 4 November 2026, through Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Screenings will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles and an English dubbed version.
Yotsuba Succession Arc is the franchise’s second feature film and continues the story following the third television season, which aired in 2024. The wider anime adaptation currently includes three television seasons as well as The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc. Jimmy Stone is directing the film, which is based on an original story by Tsutomu Sato, published through Dengeki Bunko. Animation production is being handled by Eight Bit.
Set in the year 2096, the story follows siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki during the winter of their second year at Magic High School. Tatsuya possesses an unusual weakness in his magical abilities, while Miyuki is regarded as an exceptionally talented student. Their lives begin to change after receiving an invitation to the Yotsuba Clan’s New Year’s Banquet, where clan head Maya Yotsuba and representatives of the branch families are expected to announce the next leader of the Yotsuba Clan.
Miyuki faces the possibility of being selected for the position, a decision that would require her to marry and potentially separate her from Tatsuya. At the same time, becoming clan head could give her the power to change Tatsuya’s position within the family after his treatment as a Guardian. As she travels towards the Yotsuba manor, Miyuki ultimately resolves to accept the responsibility.
“Brother… I will become the Head of the Yotsuba Clan.”
The film will explore the consequences of that decision alongside the conspiracies surrounding the Yotsuba family and revelations concerning the relationship between the two siblings.
All three seasons of The Irregular at Magic High School, along with The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc, are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
