Synduality: Echo of Ada to Go Fully Offline After Online Service Ends

The destined fate of many online service games is ultimately to become inaccessible as interest wanes and there isn’t enough of a community to justify the cost of keeping servers live. But there are the few games which upon reaching this stage of the development timeline, don’t just yeet everything into the ether and instead ensure the game continues running even once servers go dark. Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed they will be bringing an end to Synduality: Echo of Ada’s online services in May 2027. However as has been the case since the game was first released, the extraction shooter will live on through a new offline version currently in development. The publisher plans to transition Echo of Ada from its current PvPvE live-service format into a standalone PvE extraction shooter for existing owners.

The offline version will be provided as a free update to players who already own Synduality: Echo of Ada, including physical-edition owners who apply the required update while using their game disc. Online-dependent functionality will be removed, bringing an end to the game’s PvPvE experience, with players to continue their adventures in the SYNDUALITY world through its PvE gameplay.

Some progress and eligible purchased items will carry across, but players will need to complete a designated transfer process while the online service is still available. Bandai Namco plans to begin allowing server-based save data to be transferred to local save data from December 2026. Players who do not complete the required process during the transfer period will instead begin the offline version with new save data.

The shutdown will also see sales of paid SYN COINS end at 12:00am JST on 18 December 2026. Existing coins can continue to be spent on eligible content until their individual expiry dates, which are 150 days after initial activation, but unused paid SYN COINS will not be refunded. Eligible items purchased with the currency, including certain costumes, are expected to be transferable to the offline game, with Bandai Namco to confirm the applicable items and conditions alongside its detailed transfer guidance.

The final online content presentation is scheduled for October 2026, with online updates and events ending thereafter. Bandai Namco expects to provide a further announcement around March 2027 before shutting down the online service and transitioning SYNDUALITY: Echo of Ada to its offline-exclusive form after May 2027. Until then, the online version remains playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
