The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, bringing updates to the role-playing game’s visuals, combat and character progression. Developed by CD Projekt RED in collaboration with Yigsoft, the new edition is a free upgrade for eligible existing owners and includes both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions at no additional cost. The release replaces the Complete Edition on supported platforms, with both expansions also included for players who previously owned only the base game. It arrives ahead of Songs of the Past, the upcoming expansion scheduled for 2027.
Alongside improvements to environmental, character and monster textures, Remastered introduces changes to foliage, lighting, rendering and ray tracing. PC players receive path tracing, while PS5 Pro support uses PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). The PlayStation 5 Pro version is also set to offer 60 frames per second with ray tracing enabled, or up to 90 frames per second in performance mode with variable refresh rate (VRR).
The gameplay changes include an overhauled skill tree and rebalanced abilities, intended to offer greater flexibility when developing Geralt’s character build. Combat features revised animations, new finishers and an adaptive camera. Geralt and Roach also receive updated movement animations, with changes to traversal actions including vaulting and ladder climbing.
Cross-platform mod support comes to consoles through mod.io integration, allowing players to access custom content such as quests, weapons, equipment and balance adjustments. Menus have also been revised, alongside quest and tutorial notifications.
The new native Nintendo Switch 2 release adds motion controls for actions including aiming the crossbow, throwing bombs, casting witcher signs, drinking potions and changing Roach’s speed. It also supports gyro aiming and mouse controls, with touch screen functionality available for navigating maps and menus and playing Gwent.
Existing owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can access the free upgrade. Players who own The Witcher 3 on the original Nintendo Switch are also eligible for a free upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
