Pine: A Story of Loss Now Available on PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android

-

Fellow Traveller and Made Up Games have announced the release of Pine: A Story of Loss, now available on PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.

This title aims to offer players a heartfelt, narrative-driven experience that centres on a grieving woodworker navigating his daily life in a serene forest setting. The story unfolds as he is interrupted by cherished memories of a lost loved one.

The game was created by Made Up Games, founded by professional illustrator and children’s book author Tom Booth (Dreamworks, Nickelodeon) and programmer Najati Imam. Originally exploring other formats, such as short novels and illustrations, the duo chose the medium of a short interactive video game to share their story. The narrative reflects Booth’s personal experiences with grief, inspired by his original illustrations of the woodworker that serve as the foundation for the game’s wordless storytelling.

While the game explores themes of loss and sorrow, it also seeks to interweave moments of hope and beauty, making it a deeply personal experience that may resonate differently with each player. The creators note, the subject matter may not appeal to everyone, but they hope it offers a meaningful journey to those who are interested.
