Adding a new title to their 2017 video game lineup, Nippon Ichi Software America have confirmed their plans to release The Longest Five Minutes in North America and PAL regions on both the PlayStation Vita and PC (via Steam).

Originally co-developed by Nippon Ichi Software and SYUPRO-DX, The Longest Five Minutes is a game which details the moments and flashbacks which occur during a five minute final encounter of a hero and an evil overlord. Due to narrative reasons you will read about shortly, the hero must have conversations with his party and Overlord to unlock memories of their journey. Each memory plays out in classic 8-bit RPG style, and the outcome of these memories will affect your party in their final battle.

Unfortunately we only have a “2017” launch window from NIS America regarding this game, but I would expect to hear more information on it over the coming months.

THE STORY OF THE LONGEST FIVE MINUTES

Our hero faces the origin of all evil, the Overlord himself, but suddenly loses all memories of his adventure.

His finishing moves, the name of his hometown, and even the reason he’s trying to defeat the Overlord in the first place, all gone. Our hero feels as though he’s letting his allies down…

In the midst of battle, his ally’s words and the Overlord’s taunting triggers flashbacks, bringing his memories back piece by piece. Our hero tries to regain his priceless memories before it’s too late, but the Overlord stands before him, his power unyielding!
