The team behind The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince and The Cruel King and the Great Hero has a new storybook adventure on the way. Nippon Ichi Software America (NIS America) has confirmed that The Grimm Reapress and the Drearytale Monster will launch on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam starting 13 May 2027.
The game is set in a world affected by Paper Mortis, a magical disease that turns people into picture books, and picture books into monsters. Its story follows Mono, a young girl whose sister has caught the incurable illness. Determined to save her, Mono teams up with Mar, a monster set on revenge, to make her way through the Libratarium, where her sister is being kept.
Along the way, players dive into different storybooks to learn the stories of the girls who became them. The adventure involves solving puzzles and fighting bosses while trying to track down Mono’s sister and find a way to save her. The whole game is once again drawn by hand to look like a picture book, with players moving through its fairytale one book at a time.
