Pending any last minute delays, the Gold Coast Film Festival program for 2016 is set to be unveiled to the public starting sometime tomorrow (1st March 2016). But who really wants to wait one more night for all the juicy details?
Feel like a sneak peek at what to expect? Those eager to have a glimpse at what this year’s offerings will include can watch the official GCFF 2016 TV commercial above. This follows the structure of past TVCM’s, providing a minute-and-a-half long glimpse at individual films with some awesome music in the background.
There is currently no word on if Cool Japan will be returning this year, after its absence during last year’s festivities. Given they managed to acquire world, English-language and Australian-first screenings of feature films like Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, The Garden of Words and Anime Mirai, it would be a shame in my opinion for them to have scrapped such an element to the festival. That being said, Gold Coast Film Festival 2016 will include both live-action and animated feature films in its line-up.
After serving as the hub of Gold Coast Film Festival 2015, The Arts Centre Gold Coast will be the main location to catch film screenings from March 31st until April 10th. Select screenings will also be held at Birch Carol and Coyle Cinemas Coolangatta. Community Screenings on the other hand will be held at Broadbeach Park and Helensvale Cultural Centre, while other venues across the Gold Coast will be hosting a number of different events.
