It is always good to see animation studios work on titles from generations gone by, and while I haven’t seen the original 1970’s release I quite enjoyed Ghastly Prince Enma Burning Up. While it is not a title for every anime fan, it displays the sense of spontaneous and quirky humor you can find in other NIS America anime releases – and if it wern’t for them the odds of this ever hitting the international market would have been slim.
While silly and laden with over the top fanservice at times (Including a character who more or less walks around naked), Ghastly Prince Enma Burning Up was entertaining and provided a solid storyline. It worked better as a comedy than anything else, although most probably won’t be one you would keep going back to for fond memories.
