Psycho-Sleuth is a murder mystery where players cannot always trust what they see. The psychological mystery game from developer PHOSEPO and publishers Thermite Games and Smilegate STOVE is out now on PC via Steam, STOVE and the Epic Games Store.
The game is set in a gothic cathedral, where a mysterious cult called Li has trapped 13 “Afflicted Ones” in a deadly trial. Anyone who can kill another participant without being caught will rise as a god. Players gather clues and question the other participants to uncover the mastermind, while also trying to avoid suspicion themselves.
Each Afflicted One has a contagious cognitive disorder that changes how they perceive reality, which hides the truth in different ways. With OCD making lying impossible, players need to spot inconsistencies between statements. Spatial Neglect hides half of a crime scene, so missing evidence has to be worked out, while Prosopagnosia leaves bodies, witnesses and killers without recognisable faces. Arguments play out in Debate Mode, where players weigh competing claims, make judgements and counter with the right evidence. The game also boasts full voice acting, hand-drawn Live2D animation, more than 40 CG illustrations and 50 music tracks.
Xiaolu, Producer at PHOSEPO, said the game puts its own spin on the mystery visual novel genre.
How does one solve crimes befuddled by cognition? In Psycho-Sleuth, we challenge players to make use of Disease Abilities to solve murderous cases in our distinct spin on the mystery visual-novel genre. With today’s launch, we summon everyone to step into a reality shrouded in mystery to solve the unimaginable murder!
Psycho-Sleuth costs $19.99 USD, with a 10% launch discount for two weeks. A Deluxe Edition, which includes the official soundtrack and artbook, costs $35.99 USD with a 15% launch discount for two weeks.
