The Pokémon Company group has announced two significant updates for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, their surprisingly popular iOS and Android game which builds upon the renewed interest in pulling for and playing with Pokémon cards. On 29 January 2025, the game will introduce the highly anticipated trade feature, allowing players to trade digital Pokémon cards with friends. Following this, a brand-new expansion titled Space-Time Smackdown will release on 30 January 2025, bringing new content and collectibles to the game.
The new trade feature will enable players to exchange cards from their collections with friends using two new items: trade hourglasses and trade tokens. Players can trade cards with rarities of “1-4” and “★1” for others of the same rarity. Initially, tradeable cards will be limited to those from the first two card packs – Genetic Apex and Mythical Island , with plans to expand the pool of tradeable cards in future updates.
The Space-Time Smackdown expansion, launching on 30 January 2025, will focus on Pokémon from the Sinnoh region. The expansion introduces two new digital booster packs featuring Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia. Unique card illustrations will highlight Pokémon making their debut in the game, such as Lucario and Sinnoh’s first partner Pokémon: Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. Players can obtain these cards through booster packs or the wonder pick feature.
Additionally, the Space-Time Smackdown expansion will include new binder and display board covers featuring Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia, as well as the Mythical Pokémon Darkrai. Check out some example cards below:
