Visual novels are currently considered to be a niche section of the overall “video game” industry, but that has not stopped it from having a large and passionate fanbase outside of Japan. The one thing that can truly highlight this fact is Sekai Project’s recently launched Kickstarter campaign for KEY / Visual Art’s visual novel CLANNAD.
Approximately one day ago the team at Sekai Project launched their CLANNAD crowdfunding campaign with a goal of $140,000 USD. It was an ambitious goal that many games would struggle to achieve. In this case however, the goal has already been surpassed at currently sits at $149,470. With copies of the game up for grabs in addition to some nice sounding pledge bonuses, you can check out the campaign page HERE.
The English localized release of CLANNAD will feature the original Japanese voice acting, without an English dub. They have also mentioned the possibility of bringing over assets (Eg. Character Portaits) from the PlayStation 3 edition of CLANNAD, however more information will be confirmed about this at a later date.
