With Star Citizen Alpha 3.24 going live today, with updates particularly revolving around cargo – including freight elevators, improvements to the cargo system and persistent hangars in the PTU. But if you are itching to spend money on a new ship in lieu of acquiring it in “The Verse” when the game fully releases – the latter of which I would argue is always the ideal way to go from a gameplay and money saving perspective – this update also came with a new flyable ship.
This newly introduced ship is the Aegis Sabre Peregrine, a new variant of the Sabre line of crafts, all of which are flight ready, and typically have a combat nature to them. For example, the standard Sabre is pitched as a ‘Stealth Fighter’, the Sabre Comet and Sabre Comet as ‘Medium Fights’, and the Sabre Raven as an ‘Interdiction’ craft. Now they are doing a complete 180, and with the Sabre Peregrine, have opted to offer a Racing variant of the craft.
Like all other crafts in the Sabre line, there is no interior to explore – the only area the player is able to access being the cockpit. What makes it different as of writing is that it has absolutely no weapons, in turn having an Engine Performance Booster and a higher base SCM Speed.
Additionally, as with most other crafts entering concept sale nowadays, there are multiple skin options – from the factory white/grey with yellow light accents, (Vintage Aegis), a black and orange motif (Harvest), a black and red motif (Firebreak), or a black and chrome motif (Starlight), the latter only available to players who have spent a whopping $1,000 USD+ on the game’s crowdfunding efforts.
For more information, visit the ship’s promotional website, and remember that this ship is planned to be acquirable through in-game play, and not just through a $170 USD (Warbond) or $185 USD price point.
