Arguably one of the more unique and questionable (to some) peripherals to be released for PlayStation consoles over the years, seeking to answer the qualm for those who own a PlayStation 5 console but don’t headily have access to a television or monitor to play it on, the PlayStation Portal now makes local, remote PlayStation 5 gaming possible. The PlayStation Portal remote player is priced at $329.95 AUD (RRP) and is available from select retailers.
The PlayStation Portal unit features the key features of the DualSense wireless controllers (a la adaptive triggers and haptic feedback), with an 8-inch LCD screen capable of 1080p resolution at 60fps.
So who is the PlayStation Portal for? According to Sony Interactive Entertainment:
PlayStation Portal remote player is the perfect device for gamers in households where they might need to share their living room TV or simply want to play PS5 games in another room of the house. PlayStation Portal connects remotely to your PS5 over Wi-Fi, so you’ll be able to swiftly jump from playing on your PS5 to your PlayStation Portal. PlayStation Portal can play supported games that are installed on your PS5 console and use the Dualsense controller. It also includes a 3.5mm audio jack for wired audio. PS VR2 games, which require the headset, are not supported.
