More than a decade after releasing Sonic Generations on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and an alternate port for the Nintendo 3DS, SEGA has unveiled that Classic and Modern Sonic will be returning in a remastered release titled Sonic x Shadow Generations, this time featuring a new Shadow story campaign “featuring never-before-seen powers and abilities”.
The brand new Shadow campaign, which hopefully is more substancial than the last time SEGA opted to offer a Shadow expansion (granted, as DLC), will see him meet his old nemesis, Black Room, who threatens to take over the world. Players can control Shadow and dive into his past to unlock his inner powers, explore his backstory further, and ultimately prove that he is the ‘Ultimate Life Form’.
The full original Sonic Generations, will also be included, following Classic and Modern Sonic as they traverse familiar worlds throughout their shared history to rescue their friends. This version is expected to come with upgraded visuals, new challenges and other unspecified bonus content.
Sonic x Shadow Generations is set to release on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch in late-2024.
