Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 to Feature Modern Day Pro Skaters

Last month, Activision announced they had enlisted the team at Vicarious Visions to develop a remastered collection of the first two Tony Hawk extreme sports games. Relics of the PlayStation 1 era of gaming, the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series was one I never got to play in-depth due to my lack of owning a PS1, but do have fond memories of playing it on demo booths in stores.

Seeking to provide “players with breathtaking gameplay experiences”, they claim that this remaster will “blend all the original levels, pro-skaters, old-school tricks and more that gamers remember from the ‘90s and 2000’s with new, beautifully recreated levels”. But, while they are remaining faithful to the original content, new content is also in development for the game.

Joining the original cast of skaters will be some of the most preeminent pro skaters in the world today – including Nyjah Huston, Leo Baker, Leticia Bufoni, Aori Nishimura, Lizzie Armanto, Shane O’Neill, Riley Hawk and Tyshawn Jones. Each of them will set themselves apart through the inclusion of their own signature tricks.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that those who pre-order the game digitally via the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace or Epic Marketplace will get access to the game’s Warehouse Demo from 14 August 2020 – providing fans with an early opportunity to check out how the game handles.

Modern-day skateboarding originated from a generation of skaters who grew up playing the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. The world-class pro skaters we’re adding to this remaster took the tricks and combos from the videogame and made them possible in real life. We’re proud that the remaster will represent the skate culture landscape today with a diverse roster of skaters that will appeal to any gamer.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC – the latter exclusively via the Epic platform. While on offer at a standard price of $69.95 AUD, hardcore fans of the series can nab themselves a Digital Deluxe version for $84.95 AUD which includes unique content and in-game gear, or a Collector’s Edition priced at $169.95 which includes digital deluxe content and a limited-run Birdhouse Deck.
