Surge Concerto: Ciel Nosurge – More Than a Year After Release and DLC Releases Still Continuing

Surge Concerto: Ciel Nosurge - Ion in a Dark Blue Swimsuit

It has been more than a year since I last covered Surge Concerto: Ciel Nosurge, the Playstation Vita life simulation was released by Gust in April 2012. While unfortunately given how it has been set up it remains highly unlikely that it will ever receive an international release, in Japan the game still seems to be going strong with its next of many DLC installments set to go live on the Playstation Network store come June 20 2013.

This title is different from most, as unlike most games where you can (hopefully) at least expect a huge chunk of the storyline available to you with purchase, Surge Concerto comes with a single episode and since launch has been supported by additional DLC content. This content has been released periodically (almost monthly) since launch and expands upon the initial plot whilst introducing new characters, areas and sub-story elements.

While this will mean more to those who have been following the game more closely this past year, what you can expect this month are three different pieces of content – two paid and one for free. For 300 yen you can net yourself a “costume and accessories” pack which features a dark blue one-piece swimsuit for Ion to wear. For 500 yen you can net yourself the seventh World Pack volume which features new characters, sub-stories and areas and finally for free you can grab yourself the sixth TALK Pack which involves more general event scenes.

As mentioned above, the chances of seeing an international release of Surge Concerto: Ciel Nosurge are slim to nil – but take a gander below at some screenshots for the game – or even dive through the SURGE CONCERTO: CIEL NOSURGE archives to check out earlier pre-release coverage.
