The Curtain to Close on The Lion King Tonight at QPAC

-

Since first opening at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) on September 21st 2014, The Lion King has been performed hundreds of times, with many presentations being either near full capacity or completely sold out. But after waiting more than fifteen years for the musical to finally arrive in Queensland, the cast are set to take their final bows tonight before packing things up and making their way to the Regent Theatre in Melbourne.

When this post goes live the final session of The Lion King should just be starting, with Buyi Zama’s (Rafiki) powerful and surprisingly emotional rendition of Circle of Life set to amaze the crowds one last time on the Lyric Theatre stage. All I can say is that I am incredibly envious about anyone who has been able to nab themselves tickets to see the show tonight.

Those who have been reading The Otaku’s Study these past few months will know that I personally loved every element of The Lion King – giving it (★★★★★) in my review of it last year. Currently it sits as the highest reviewed anything on The Otaku’s Study in the past three months.

QPAC’s Lyric Theatre is set to sit empty for the next few weeks while things are prepared for the upcoming two-month run of Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz from February 12th 2015. This will be followed by Dirty Dancing which begins on May 27th 2015.

The Lion King will begin its run at the Melbourne Regent Theatre on February 13, with tickets currently available for purchase through Ticketmaster.
