Stupid Never Dies Details Progression System and Demo Combat Update

Every trip into the underworld begins at level 1 in Stupid Never Dies, but protagonist Davy’s ability to gain levels develops over time. That progression system is the focus of a new gameplay video from publisher SEGA and developer GPTRACK50, ahead of the action RPG’s release on 21 October 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC.

In Deep Bite #2: Game Cycle, director Eiichiro Sasaki explains how players will prepare the zombie protagonist for repeated descents into the realm of the King of All Monsters, known as KOM. The goal is to reach the bottom of the underworld and defeat its ruler, with preparations between attempts helping Davy work towards completing that journey in a single run.

The system, called Blazing Fast Growth, allows Davy to level up increasingly quickly from defeated enemies over time. Although his level resets at the beginning of each dive, he can eventually develop to the point where defeating just one early enemy grants a substantial number of levels.

Between those descents, Davy returns to a shopping mall that serves as his home base. Its shops offer different ways to develop his abilities using materials gathered during runs. At Ink on the Brain, Ascelino uses collected Over Technology to modify Davy’s head, arms and legs through the Body Hack system. Bessie, meanwhile, accepts monster parts at Bessie Burger in exchange for unlocking Zombie Skills. Those skills can then appear among the choices offered when Davy levels up. A modified robot vacuum provides transport between the mall’s stores.

Alongside the gameplay overview, GPTRACK50 has released an update for the Stupid Never Dies: First Bite demo in response to player feedback. The changes focus on combat targeting and will also be included in the full game at launch. Attacks have been adjusted to make enemies easier to hit, particularly those on the ground or in the air. A new Combat Camera Assist feature also helps keep enemies in view during fights, with an option to switch it on or off through the Options menu. The demo is available now to try out.

Developed by a studio formed by veteran action game developers, Stupid Never Dies is a single-player 3D action RPG with a pop-punk style. Davy is a timid zombie at the bottom of monster society whose quest involves bringing Julia, a frozen human girl, back to life. Within its monster-ruled dungeon setting, players will defeat enemies, collect unusual items, steal enemy abilities and customise Davy’s undead body as they grow stronger.
