Cirque Alice will take audiences down the rabbit hole when it begins an exclusive Sydney season at Sydney Lyric Theatre on Friday 25 September 2026. Running until 11 October 2026, essentially during the school holidays period, the production reimagines Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland through circus, music, dance and puppetry. The show is produced by Tim Lawson and Simon Painter, the team behind Cirque du Soleil’s Mad Apple, The Illusionists, Le Noir, Circus 1903 and Now You See Me Live.
Inspired by the characters and fantasy world of Carroll’s story, Cirque Alice features international acrobats, aerialists, contortionists, dancers and comedic performers. The production will also include puppetry, a special musical guest, an elaborate set and a soundtrack of newly arranged contemporary interpretations of classical favourites. Creative Producer Simon Painter said the eccentric characters and creations found throughout Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland provided the foundation for the new circus production.
The tales of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland provide the perfect backdrop to create a magical narrative about a cirque show. Filled with some of the most eccentric and larger-than-life characters and creations, the original stories have provided such amazing inspiration for this groundbreaking new production.
