Over recent years, developer Cloud Imperium Games has rolled out several major planetside hubs in their still-in-early-access space-simulator game Star Citizen. Depicting arguably not the brightest future after humans took to the stars, many planets have been colonised and exploited for their resources – and these cities/hubs don’t feature much in terms of typical aesthetic beauty. Spawning in Lorville intending to run through it, fly away and capture another image for today’s post, I couldn’t help but become enthralled by a beautiful sunrise, framed by the metallic walls and grotty windows of the residential hub I was in. Sometimes you just need to find beauty in the most run-down of environments…
In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised more than $265 million USD through on-going crowdfunding. Please keep in mind should you decide to purchase towards Star Citizen, that this is an incomplete project and that you are pledging towards an extended crowdfunding campaign with no 100% guarantee of a finished product.
Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo is an off-shoot of the Take That (In-Game) Snap article series, in which the first article focusing on Final Fantasy XIV was published earlier in 2020. This looks at, celebrates and critiques how video game developers have implemented professional photography-like systems into their games. It will cover how the systems handle, just how accessible they are and, where applicable, how a modding community might be making these tools even better. With this Daily Photo spin-off series, I will be sharing individual photos from the games either covered or soon-to-be-covered in the series.
