A new update to Genshin Impact brings players two brand new recruitable characters to the in-game wish system, both of whom are featured in the first wish banner for the update. The 5-star character of the update is the story-critical character. The Wanderer, who also goes by names such as Scaramouche and The Balladeer. He has been involved in the game’s narrative since last year’s Inazuma archon quest, taking on an antagonistic role against the Traveller, Paimon and their allies. Similar to Childe’s appearance on the wish banner quite some time ago, this comes as his first major overarching arc comes to a close.
While narrative events have typically associated Scaramouche with the Electro element, in his Wanderer form, he serves as an Anemo element, Catalyst user, putting him in the same category as the 4-star launch character Sucrose, and the more recently released Heizou. He is the only 5-star character of this element-weapon combination.
Despite donning a different outfit and abilities we have seen him use in the past, his skill set is not only unique and versatile, his ability to hover in the air for a limited period while moving or attacking makes him arguably one of Genshin Impact’s strongest exploration character to date. So while he is not a meta-changer as Genshin Impact v3.2’s Nahida was, if you like his style or this sounds like a character for you, he is pretty good!
Developed by HoYoVerse and now in its third year of operation, Genshin Impact is available to download on the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, iOS and Android platforms. While free-to-play, the game is supported via premium currencies and a wish “gacha” system.
