10 Million Pilots Have Taken to the Skies in Microsoft Flight Simulator

Although the Microsoft Flight Simulator series could be considered a bit niche, improved accessibility through the Xbox Game Pass and probably because its launch window coincided with the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Microsoft has shared that in the 27 months since launch, more than 10 million pilots have taken to the skies in the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator release from Asobo Studio. These numbers cover the game’s releases on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S home video game consoles.

In marking this milestone, Asobo Studio and Microsoft has also shared some stats about Microsoft Flight Simulator over the past two and a half years. In total, players have undertaken:

  • 500 million flights
  • Flown 40 billion miles (Approximately 64.37 billion kilometers)
  • Taken the equivalent of 10 million trips around the Earth or 200 round trips from the Earth to the Sun.

While not sharing any new specifics, both developer and publisher as also confirmed they have “exciting plans” in store for Microsoft Flight Simulator in 2023.
