And Into the Puppets’ Bunker

Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo

After many, many months of waiting, the Warrior of Darkness and their 23 companions can head into The Puppets’ Bunker. Here lies new challenges, new mysteries and maybe a couple of answers.

The Puppets’ Bunker is the second of three planned 24-player Alliance Raids being introduced in the Shadowbringers expansion. Coming under the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse banner, these raids are being guest directed by Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito. It was the first piece of content I jumped into when I booted up Patch 5.3, and I enjoyed every minute of it!

Expect to see more when my review of Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.3: Reflections in Crystal goes live (hopefully) on Friday.

For the last couple of weeks, I have been crafting stories or providing explanatory notes with almost every instalment in the Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo series. While I do so as a creative outlet, taking photos in video games is not always about telling a story or even being creative for that matter. Instead, it should be first and foremost a means of capturing a memorable in-game moment – whether defeating a complex raid, beating a challenge you have been working so hard on, or just capturing a moment worthy to remain memorable in your mind for months and years to come.

Therefore for the next week or so, I would like to move away from what I have been doing, and just post pictures from different games I took on the spur of the moment. Some may be of varying quality, but nevertheless were part of just taking random photos for fun.

Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo is an off-shoot of the Take That (In-Game) Snap article series, in which the first article focusing on Final Fantasy XIV was recently published. This looks at, celebrates and critiques how video game developers have implemented professional photography-like systems into their games. It will cover how the systems handle, just how accessible they are and, where applicable, how a modding community might be making these tools even better. With this Daily Photo spin-off series, I will be sharing individual photos from the games either covered or soon-to-be-covered in the series.
