Appreciating the Esperia Prowler

In Star Citizen, there are many in-universe ship manufacturers you can choose to source your ideal ship from. You have everything from Drake Interplanetary which are more industrial in style and infamous for being the choice of pirates, MISC who shine with transport and industrial crafts, and Origin Jumpworks which bring a bit of luxury to any ship they manufacture. Most of these ships are designed to more human-like standards. But then you have Esperia, a manufacturer who deliver ships replicating those of other races, conforming to human standards while embracing the style and culture of others.

Appreciating the Esperia Prowler 1

While Star Citizen Alpha 3.9 focused more on the New Babbage landing zone, the prison system and other gameplay enhancements; Cloud Imperium Games introduced The Esperia Prowler as its new flyable ship for the expansion. The ship is a medium-sized drop ship based on Tevarin designs, enabling the passage of more than a dozen crew from Point A to Point B with little luxury but as quickly as possible.

The big draw of this ship is the cockpit, which forgoes the use of standard glass windows. Instead, it uses shielding which makes it appear opaque on the exterior but transparent on the inside. If you need to for whatever reason, you can toggle the opaqueness of the interior view.

In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised more than $250 million USD through on-going crowdfunding.

Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo is an off-shoot of the Take That (In-Game) Snap article series, in which the first article focusing on Final Fantasy XIV was recently published. This looks at, celebrates and critiques how video game developers have implemented professional photography-like systems into their games. It will cover how the systems handle, just how accessible they are and, where applicable, how a modding community might be making these tools even better. With this Daily Photo spin-off series, I will be sharing individual photos from the games either covered or soon-to-be-covered.
