Epic Montreux 2027 To Feature 2WEI’s First Full Live Concert And International Composition Competition

German epic music collective 2WEI will perform its first full live concert as part of Epic Montreux, a new music event taking place in Switzerland on 5 and 6 March 2027. Held at the Auditorium Stravinski in Montreux, the two-day event will bring together composers, musicians and audiences from the world of epic music, with a programme aiming to feature live performances, an international composition competition and opportunities for emerging composers.

Epic Montreux is being created and presented by Swiss concert production company Helvepic, which is also behind the internationally touring World of Warcraft: 20 Years of Music anniversary concert series. The event is being delivered in partnership with La Saison Culturelle de Montreux. The inaugural event will be headlined by 2WEI, with artist Edda Hayes joining the collective for two performances featuring more than 200 singers and musicians.

The concerts will also feature Tale of Fantasy Choir & Orchestra, a Swiss epic music group celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2027. The performances will combine a symphony orchestra, choir and solo vocals, with arrangements, staging and visual production developed specifically for Epic Montreux. The concerts mark a significant milestone for 2WEI, with co-founder Simon Heeger reflecting on the collective’s journey since releasing Escape Velocity a decade ago.

When we released ‘Escape Velocity’ ten years ago, this was just a dream. Now a 200+ piece orchestra is performing an entire evening of our music in Montreux – I couldn’t be more proud and grateful.

Helvepic General Manager and Epic Montreux Artistic Director Alexandre Pican explained that the event is intended to bring the international epic music community together while providing opportunities for emerging composers.

Epic Montreux is our opportunity to bring the international epic music community together around spectacular live performance, while also creating meaningful opportunities for emerging composers. From 2WEI’s first full live concert to a global composition competition and a programme designed to connect audiences, artists and industry professionals, we want to create an event that celebrates where epic music is today and helps shape where it goes next.

Beyond the headline concerts, Epic Montreux will host an international composition competition open to composers worldwide. Applications opened on 16 September 2026 and will close on 8 November 2026, with entries to be assessed by a jury of professionals from the video game and film music industries. Three finalists will be invited to Montreux, where their compositions will be performed live by more than 200 performers, including a symphony orchestra and choir, as part of the event’s official programme.

Three-time Emmy Award-winning and BAFTA-nominated composer Russell Brower, who currently serves as Audio & Music Director at CD PROJEKT RED, has been announced as the inaugural Patron of Epic Montreux and will participate in the competition’s evaluation process. The jury will also include video game and trailer composers Alex Moukala and Cedric Baravaglio, 21st Century Orchestra conductor Ludwig Wicki, Helvepic Music Director Bernard Duc and Epic Montreux Artistic Director Alexandre Pican.

Brower discussed the importance of providing emerging composers with opportunities to hear their music performed by a live orchestra and choir.

Epic Montreux is an event I wish had existed when I was finding my own voice as a composer, because there’s no better way to begin to recognise your emerging musical soul than through the hundreds of collective years’ experience a live orchestra and choir breathes into every note you write.

The event will also include masterclasses, panels, meet-and-greets and networking opportunities for audiences, artists, composers and industry professionals. Epic music, which combines orchestral arrangements, choirs, cinematic percussion and contemporary production techniques, is commonly associated with film, television, video games and trailers.

Both Epic Montreux concerts are scheduled to begin at 7:30pm local time on 5 and 6 March 2027, with an estimated total running time of two hours and 15 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission. Tickets will go on sale on 1 October 2026, with early-bird tickets available until 18 October 2026. Further information about the event, ticketing and the international composition competition is available through the official Epic Montreux website.
