Cathedral: Crow’s Curse is taking a little longer to arrive. Swedish independent developer Decemberborn Interactive has confirmed that the action-adventure prequel to Cathedral is now set to release in 2027, with a more specific window still to be announced. The studio is showing a new gameplay trailer for the game at ENDIX Expo, the multiplayer gaming convention running from 6 to 8 November.
Crow’s Curse tells a new story centred on Crow, a skilled Shade Sentinel who first appeared as an NPC in the original Cathedral. With the balance of the Shade Forest starting to break down, Crow travels through cursed woods and ancient ruins to uncover the origins of the Sentinel order and face the dark forces threatening it. The game aims to combine combat, exploration and atmospheric storytelling, building on the foundations of the original game with new locations, abilities and challenges.
Eric Lavesson, Lead Developer at Decemberborn Interactive, explained the decision to give the game more time and how player feedback has helped.
We decided to take more time to make Crow’s Curse the game we want it to be than rush it out. The feedback on the demo has been a big help, and ENDIX Expo is a great chance to meet players in person and hear what they’re hoping to see.
Visitors to ENDIX Expo can find the game at booth #16 on the third floor, with the team available to chat on 7 and 8 November from 8pm to 9pm GMT. A demo for Cathedral: Crow’s Curse is available now on Steam in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America) and Swedish.
