From the heartwarming and magical The Boy and the Beast to the emotional and tear-jerking moments found in Wolf Children – Japanese animated film director Mamoru Hosoda has brought a number of memorable tales to screens over the years. Following their similar (albeit much more expensive) collections of films directed by Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki, Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment is giving Hosoda a chance to shine with his own collection.

This is not a “complete collection” of Hosoda’s animated works, as Madman Entertainment have not acquired rights to the Digimon movies he worked on. However, the Mamoru Hosoda Collected Works collection will feature his four iconic major works in one collection on DVD or Blu-ray: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children and The Boy and the Beast. Each film is complemented by its own on-disc extras, while the collection also features special art cards.

This collection will be released onto the Madman Entertainment Online Store and anime retailers from Wednesday 25 October 2017 – next week. The Blu-ray edition will set you back $99.95 AUD, while the DVD set is slightly cheaper at $89.95.

Madman Entertainment have also recently re-released their The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki collection on DVD and Blu-ray – which features all 11 of Miyazaki’s feature films (from The Castle of Cagliostro to The Wind Rises). These collections come in at $324.95 AUD and $274.95 on DVD and Blu-ray respectively.
