A rejected marriage proposal and a lost engagement ring are the starting point for UNDERGROUNDED, which now has a physical release in North America. Aksys Games has announced that the puzzle-adventure game from developer Game Studio Inc. is available now on Nintendo Switch in physical form.
Players take on the role of Scott, a young man in Manhattan who finally works up the courage to propose to his girlfriend, only for her to say no. In his disappointment, he accidentally drops the ring into a storm drain, and it falls deep underground, first through the sewers beneath Manhattan, then through a movie theatre, past a jet plane and into the Wild West. As it turns out, there is a dungeon below Manhattan where America’s past lives on, and Scott has to make his way to the very bottom to get the ring back.
He does not go alone. A chatty, cheerful canary joins Scott as he works through the dungeon’s many layers, each tied to a different part of American history, solving puzzles along the way. Combat against enemies and bosses draws inspiration from 1980s arcade games. Scott also discovers he is not the only one who has lost something down there, and helping others might just change his own life for the better.
