Sony Interactive Entertainment has added HELLDIVERS 2 to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue, giving PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe members access to the cooperative third-person shooter as part of their subscription. The addition allows members to form squads of up to four players and take on missions within the game’s ongoing Galactic War.
Originally released in 2024, HELLDIVERS 2 has welcomed more than 22.9 million players across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC as of 9 August 2026. The game has continued to receive new content since launch, including additional storylines, enemy types, character customisation options and collaborations.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Senior Vice President of Marketing Mary Yee said the addition of HELLDIVERS 2 was intended to further expand the range of games available through the PlayStation Plus service.
“Players continue to recognise the value of PlayStation Plus and an ever-evolving Game Catalogue with strong content specially curated for the PlayStation community. With the addition of HELLDIVERS 2, a game that has already been enjoyed by millions of players worldwide, we’re further strengthening the value of PlayStation Plus and creating more opportunities for members to discover and engage with exceptional games.”
Alongside the PlayStation Plus announcement, HELLDIVERS 2 has received a new crossover with Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000. The HELLDIVERS 2 x Warhammer 40,000: Castellan’s Creed Legendary Warbond is available for purchase from 15 August 2026 and includes armour, weapons and vehicle patterns for customising Helldivers. The collaboration draws inspiration from the Cadian Kasrkin, the elite shock assault troops of the Astra Militarum from the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
A new horror-themed narrative arc titled Devoid of Liberty also began this week, taking the Galactic War in a darker direction as a threat begins to emerge from a mysterious void within the galaxy. Its opening chapter sends players towards the void as mutated Illuminate organisms begin appearing on the battlefield. As the storyline progresses, the void will alter its surroundings, introducing a new biome and transforming existing enemies into new forms.
The Helldivers franchise is also set to move beyond games, with a film adaptation from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions scheduled for theatrical release on 10 November 2027.
