Publisher Mindscape and developer Floor 84 have reunited for a new game in the Dog Man series, following their earlier title Dog Man: Mission Impawsible. Dog Man: Bark in Action is set for a worldwide release this Spring on a range of platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, drawing once again on Dav Pilkey’s comic book series and adding more playable characters, additional action and, for the first time in the series, local co-op multiplayer.
The game’s plot centres on Dr. Scum, who has placed Hypno Screens throughout the city to mind-control its residents. Players take on the role of Dog Man, described as part man, part dog, who must work alongside his Supa Buddies to defeat Dr. Scum and his minions, rescue captured friends and protect the city. The title features a roster of more than 10 playable characters, six new worlds and double the boss fights compared to its predecessor. A new couch co-op mode allows a second player to join in, with the publisher positioning the game as family-friendly and accessible to both existing fans and newcomers.
Mindscape Lead Producer Matthijs Kramer commented on the developer’s familiarity with the source material, having collaborated with Floor 84 on the previous Dog Man game:
Development studio Floor 84 did an amazing job on Bark in Action. Having worked with them on Dog Man before, we knew they understand what Dog Man is about and create something that reflected what fans love about the comics.
Floor 84 Creative Director Matthew Vroman reflected on returning to the property and the studio’s aims for the sequel:
It’s been an honour to be able to work in Dav Pilkey’s world again. Our goal was to take what made the first game special and kick it into high gear, and I think we put together a very strong result.
