HoYoverse has dated the next major chapter of Genshin Impact. Version Luna I, titled Song of the Welkin Moon: Segue, launches on September 10 and marks the first step in a yearlong cycle focused on the mysteries of the moon. The update unlocks Nod-Krai, a new northern region of three island territories situated north of Natlan, and threads fresh conflicts between local factions with an unfolding Fatui plot
Arriving as players finish their journey through Natlan, Nod-Krai can be accessed once Mondstadt’s main story is cleared and Adventure Rank 28 is reached, or by continuing into the new Archon Quests after completing Liyue’s storyline. Those quests place Travelers alongside Lauma of the Frostmoon Scions against the Fatui, pair them with Flins to counter the relentless Wild Hunt, and introduce new allies in Nasha Town. The Harbinger Sandrone, known as Marionette, moves to seize the moon’s power, while former Harbinger Columbina has withdrawn to her birthplace in Nod-Krai where she is revered as the Moon Maiden and may bestow powerful blessings.
Exploration in Nod-Krai revolves around Kuuvahki, an ancient elemental force that shapes the land, its mechanisms and its fauna. Travelers will channel Kuuvahki through plants and devices to solve traversal challenges, and can assume the form of a Kuuhenki to glide across pockets of mist and navigate Moonlanes. Kuuvahki also surfaces in combat, both in enemies and allies, encouraging targeted strategies and enabling certain characters to trigger new Lunar Reactions.
Three characters from Nod-Krai join the playable roster with this version. Lauma, a five star Dendro Catalyst Moonchanter, supports teammates by reducing enemy resistance to Dendro and Hydro and converts accumulated Verdant Dew into Lunar Bloom damage. Her bond with wildlife lets her shift into a swift cervitaur form for sprinting and leaping. Flins, a five star Electro Polearm Lightkeeper, channels Lunar Charged strikes that can be spent as either a concentrated single spear blow with reduced energy cost or a short storm of rapid thrusts, and he can hear the whispers of the Wild Hunt while exploring. Aino, a four star Hydro Claymore inventor and caretaker to the duck shaped device Knuckle Duckle, brings mechanical flair to combat and daily life, and can be recruited for free by progressing the new Archon Quests.
A social feature called Meeting Points will also invite players into character day to day vignettes, from the legends of the Frostmoon Scions with Lauma, to Flins’s Lightkeeper history, to the bustle of Aino’s Clink Clank Krumkake Craftshop. Event Wishes for the first half feature Lauma alongside a rerun for Nahida plus a Sumeru themed Chronicled Wish. The second half includes Flins, Aino and a rerun for Yelan.
Quality of life changes arrive with wider sources of Adventure EXP to accelerate leveling and harvestable materials added to Battle Pass rewards. Players can preview an Artifact’s locked affix in advance and save additional team presets through expanded party slots. The update also introduces Masterless Stella Fortuna, an item that converts surplus five star Stella Fortuna to push characters beyond the current cap up to Level 100. To celebrate both the version launch and the game’s fifth anniversary, HoYoverse will distribute a free Standard Wish five star character of your choice, 10 Intertwined Fates via a login event, 1,600 Primogems by in game mail, and two Nod-Krai themed gadgets among other gifts.
Looking beyond Luna I, HoYoverse detailed Miliastra Wonderland, a UGC system that will roll out from Version Luna II. Using the Miliastra Sandbox editor, creators will combine existing Genshin systems and assets to build and share playable stages across simulations, party games, survival challenges and more.
