Set in the harsh wilderness of Alaska, Edge of Sanity is a 2D survival horror game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The story centres on Carter, an ordinary worker struggling to maintain his sanity while leading a group of survivors against unimaginable horrors. Players must explore remote Alaskan areas, gather supplies, and ensure the survival of their group, all while dealing with the increasing risk of disease and the strain of growing numbers. Throughout the game, Carter’s mental state deteriorates, with each traumatic event leaving a lasting impact. This accumulated madness can result in new traumas that affect gameplay, offering new dialogue options and even allowing for the crafting of unique items.
To survive encounters with various monstrous creatures, players will need to exploit enemy weaknesses, manage resources effectively, and make strategic use of crafting and the environment. In some situations, combat may be unavoidable, requiring players to resort to using an axe, although this comes with the risk of fatal outcomes.
