Hoyoverse has officially announced the launch date for the next major expansion to Genshin Impact. During a special livestream outside HoYoverse’s usual livestream schedule, the developer confirmed that the Snezhnaya region is scheduled to be released on 12 August 2026 as part of the next major numbered update.
The introduction of the Nation of Cryo represents a significant milestone for the game’s ongoing narrative. This expansion aims to resolve various plot lines that have been in development since the game’s initial launch, specifically focusing on the agenda of the Tsaritsa and the ultimate fate of the six Gnoses.
In terms of world-building and cultural influences, the new region will feature music inspired by Slavic folk traditions and classical symphonic styles. Furthermore, a key addition to the environment is the introduction of trains. These will serve as a new cultural element within the region while also acting as a functional vehicle for players to use.
The update will also bring changes to combat and interaction mechanics. Players will be able to use the Cryo element as a means of preservation within the open world, alongside other new gameplay features. On the technical side, the developer is implementing visual upgrades for the character roster and seeking to create a more seamless integration between cinematic storytelling and active gameplay.
