Continuing with the newest interlude arc of the Genshin Impact narrative, HoYoverse has confirmed that Version Luna III: Song of the Welkin Moon: Interlude “A Nocturne of the Far North”, is set to go live on 3 December 2025. The update continues the unfolding story in Nod-Krai, as the region prepares for Moon-Prayer Night, a festival that also marks the Dameselette’s final evening before she departs for the moon.
Following the defeat of Rächer of Solnari, Nasha Town springs back into festive life for Moon-Prayer Night. Players will be able to enjoy the celebration by visiting game stalls, collecting stamps in a souvenir book and sharing a quiet farewell of sorts before the Dameselette’s return to the moon. The Hexenzirkel are also set to arrive unexpectedly in Nod-Krai, bringing both familiar faces and troubling news. Alice, Klee’s mother, and Nicole Reeyn, who previously guided the player in understanding Fontaine’s prophecy, finally appear in person to deliver a warning. According to them, Teyvat’s borders are becoming unstable, and strange phantoms are being sighted across Nod-Krai. In response to this growing threat, players will join forces with Albedo, Durin and the Wanderer to investigate the appearance of these phantoms and the forces behind them. Completing this latest Archon Quest will reward players with 500 Primogems for a limited time.
One of the headline additions in Version Luna III is Durin, now available as a 5 star Pyro Sword character. Durin has two distinct combat forms and can be built either as a team support or a primary damage dealer, depending on how players wish to use him. Once a dragon from the fairytale world of Simulanka, Durin later gained a human body through Albedo’s alchemy and the transfer of the original dragon Durin’s heart energy. This unusual origin gives him dual sources of strength:
- One form reflects the pure soul of Simulanka, focusing on team support by reducing enemies’ Elemental Resistance and dealing area of effect Pyro damage.
- The other form draws on Abyssal energy, specialising in powerful single target strikes and enhancing his own Vaporize and Melt reaction damage.
Durin will also receive his own Story Quest, which promises to uncover more about his past as a dragon, his ties to Albedo and the broader mysteries surrounding the Hexenzirkel. Completing this quest will grant a special reward for Durin.
After featuring in the Nod-Krai Archon quest, Jahoda is also set to join the game’s character roster as a 4-star anemo bow user. She is set to specialise in team healing and can absorb different Elements to deal matching damage. The update’s Event Wishes are split across two phases. The first phase will feature the debut of Durin and Jahoda alongside the return of Venti. The second phase will see the rerun of Varesa and Xilonen.
Version Luna III also introduces a new layer of character enhancements tied to the Hexenzirkel. Certain characters closely associated with this group can be strengthened as Hexerei characters after players clear a new series of quests. By completing Alice’s questline titled “Witch’s Homework”, the following characters can be elevated to Hexerei status: Durin, Venti, Klee, Albedo, Mona, Razor, Fischl and Sucrose. Each of these quests tells a character specific story while granting new abilities and altering their Constellation effects.
There are also party wide benefits. If a team includes at least two Hexerei characters, the “Hexerei: Secret Rite” effect will be unlocked, significantly boosting the party’s overall combat capabilities. For example, with Venti, he will regain a portion of his previously hidden power once his quest is completed. While his Stormeye is active, his Normal Attack will transform into “Windsunder Arrows” that can pierce through enemies and have a chance to further extend the duration of Stormeye.
Several limited time activities will become available as part of the update. “Soulblazers’ Snowbound Journey” will take players back to the frozen slopes of Dragonspine to tackle winter themed minigames. Participants can earn rewards that include an exclusive 4 star weapon, the “Rainbow Serpent’s Rain Bow”, along with Primogems and other resources. Back in Nod-Krai, additional story segments and interactions with the Dameselette will be unlocked in Silvermoon Hall, expanding on the emotional side of her impending journey to the moon. The Envisage Echoes combat challenges are also being updated. Klee’s and Albedo’s echoes will be added as new rewards, giving players more incentive to revisit this mode.
On the user generated content side, Miliastra Wonderland is receiving a set of quality of life and content updates. A new feature named the “Wonderland Resource Center” allows Craftspeople to share their creations more easily and browse resources and creative content made available through the editing tool. This module will offer additional unlockable rewards in Version Luna III, including new actions, expressions and free pulls. A winter themed Main Hall layout will also be introduced for the duration of the version, tying in visually with the broader season and Dragonspine focused events.
