Bethesda has rolled out a new update for Fallout 76, with the Gone Fission update now available for all players at no additional cost. The update introduces fishing as a new gameplay feature, allowing players to cast a line across the Wasteland and explore new mechanics, quests, and seasonal rewards.
The Gone Fission update begins with a questline that provides players with their first Fishing Rod. From there, the activity opens up across the map – if players can swim in it (if you REALLY want to swim in it), they can fish in it. The type of fish that can be caught depends on bait, weather, location, and rod type, encouraging players to experiment with different combinations.
Fish can serve multiple purposes: they can be eaten to restore Health and Hunger, broken down into Fish Bits, or cooked into new recipes for added effects. Additionally, players can share a meal with Linda-Lee, the hermit crab of Fishermen’s Rest, to receive a Legendary item.
Accompanying the update is Season 21, which brings new fishing-related challenges and rewards. These include Fishing Rod upgrades and aquatic-themed C.A.M.P. décor, offering fresh progression for players engaging with the new systems.
Fallout 76: Gone Fission is available now on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. The game is also accessible via Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra.
