Xbox has announced Retro Classics with Game Pass, a new initiative in collaboration with Antstream Arcade that brings more than 50 classic Activision games from the 1980s and 1990s to Game Pass members worldwide. This initiative aims to enhance game preservation and accessibility by making legacy titles available on modern hardware.
The launch collection includes well-known titles such as Commando, Grand Prix, Kaboom!, Mech Warrior 2: 31st Century Combat, and Pitfall!. These games can now be played on Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, and compatible cloud gaming devices. Many of the titles now support save functionality, enabling players to pause and resume gameplay—an option not originally available in many of these classics.
Game Pass subscribers can access Retro Classics by searching for and installing the collection on their console or through the Xbox app on PC. In addition to solo play, the collection features competitive elements such as global challenges and achievement tracking.
Looking ahead, Xbox has confirmed plans to expand the Retro Classics catalogue to over 100 titles, with more Activision and Blizzard games expected to be added in the future. Here’s hoping that other developers’ games will eventually be made available on the platform.
