To commemorate Dragon Quest Day, Square Enix has confirmed that Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will release on 30 October 2025. This title will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Digital pre-orders for the game have opened today via the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace and Steam respectively.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake brings together full remakes of Dragon Quest I and Dragon Quest II, continuing the story established in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, which was released in November 2024. Serving as the conclusion to the “Erdrick Trilogy”, the games feature a new visual presentation using the HD-2D graphical style, alongside updated gameplay systems and newly added story content.
Players will once again follow the descendants of Erdrick, the hero from Dragon Quest III, exploring a narrative that connects the three titles. For those new to the series or looking to play the full saga, Square Enix will also release a digital-only bundle, the Dragon Quest HD-2D Erdrick Trilogy Collection, including all three titles for $99.99.
The remakes promise enhancements such as refined battle mechanics, quality-of-life improvements, and various new additions. Square Enix has indicated that further details about this content will be shared at a later date.
A Collector’s Edition of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is also now available for pre-order. Launching alongside the standard edition on 30 October, this edition will be priced at $149.99 and will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. It includes:
- Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Standard Edition physical game
- Character & Monster Blocks Complete Set (featuring six characters, a dog, two boss monsters, and the logo)
- The Outstanding Outfit Kit (includes in-game items: Ring of Strength x1, Slime Earrings x1, Mad Cap x1, and Arriviste’s Vest x1)
- Two exclusive digital wallpapers
- Pre-order bonus
Additionally, players who own the complete Erdrick Trilogy will gain access to bonus cosmetic items – a Dog Suit for Dragon Quest I and a Cat Suit for Dragon Quest II.
