During the recent Division 2 Showcase, Ubisoft confirmed that Battle for Brooklyn, a new DLC for The Division 2, will launch on 27 May 2025. This announcement included a preview of the gameplay, story, and setting featured in the upcoming content.
Set during autumn in a post-pandemic New York, Battle for Brooklyn introduces players to the boroughs of Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo. While Brooklyn has managed to maintain relative stability, it now faces a new threat as the Cleaners and Rikers factions move in from Manhattan. These groups attempt to destabilise the community using a mysterious agent called the Purple Flame.
Players will engage with a linear campaign that can be experienced solo or in co-op. The main objective will be to investigate the Cleaners’ production of the Purple Flame and protect civilians from the spreading threat.
Among the new gameplay features is the return of Smart Cover, a skill from the original The Division, which reinforces player cover while providing offensive and defensive boosts and improved pulse resistance. The DLC will also include the Catalyst Exotic Mask, a DLC-exclusive item that enhances status effect damage both given and received—especially useful when dealing with the Cleaners.
Ubisoft also outlined its broader vision for Year 7 of The Division 2, which includes:
- Improving the onboarding experience for new players,
- Deepening the endgame content, and
- Strengthening seasonal elements is a central part of the game.
Players can expect more narrative-aligned gameplay changes, gear adjustments, and themed events over the coming year.
As of today, The Division 2 players can wishlist either the standard or Deluxe editions of Battle for Brooklyn via the Ubisoft Store. The DLC is also bundled with the Gold and Ultimate editions of The Division 2. These editions include the base game, the Warlords of New York expansion, additional stash space, a level 40 boost, and the Ultimate edition, 1000 Premium Credits and the Year 1 Pass, which unlocks further endgame content and missions.
