The world of Gothic is making its way from screen to tabletop, and fans are responding with enthusiasm. Within just one hour of launching on Gamefound, Gothic: A Shadow’s Quest surpassed its €50,000 crowdfunding target – doubling that figure shortly after. With the campaign open until 14 May 2025, fans of the series still have an opportunity to dive into this adaptation of the video game franchise.
Behind the project is THQ Nordic’s board game division, previously responsible for Darksiders: The Forbidden Land. This new adaptation aims to capture the atmosphere and danger of the original RPG, offering a tactical, narrative-driven experience for one to four players (with the option of a game master for added challenge).

Set in the infamous Old Camp, players take on the role of a “Shadow” working under Gomez’s orders. Whether opting to play as a swordsman, archer, or caster, they’ll undertake missions, explore dangerous locations, and face off against familiar enemies including Scavengers, Orcs, and the dreaded Minecrawlers. Along the way, they’ll gather loot, earn experience, and develop their characters as the story progresses.
As of writing the campaign has dropped some of its initial momentum, but nevertheless accrued €125,892 in crowdfunding as of writing from 1,280 backers, with 19 more days remaining.
