Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will receive its first free major post-launch content expansion, titled Title Update 1, on 4 April 2025. Announced during the latest Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase livestream, the update introduces new monsters, gameplay features, and a seasonal event to the action RPG.
The update marks the return of Mizutsune, last seen in Monster Hunter Rise. The leviathan will be available to players at Hunter Rank 21 and above, accessible via Kanya in the Scarlet Forest. Tempered Mizutsune will also begin to appear in the environment for hunters ranked 41 and higher. Players at Hunter Rank 50 can undertake an Event Quest featuring Arch-tempered Rey Dau, offering a heightened challenge and the opportunity to forge the new Rey Dau Gamma armour set. Zoh Shia will also return as part of a new mission at this rank, unlocking additional encounters and parts for crafting equipment.
The update adds a variety of quest types, including Arena Quests, Challenge Quests, and Free Challenge Quests. The latter two will be available for limited periods as Event Quests, with Challenge Quests using set gear and supporting up to two players, while Free Challenge Quests have no gear restrictions and support up to four. All can be completed solo, with a team, or using Support Hunters. Players can earn rewards such as pendants and secure their place on the Expedition Record Board for fast completion times.
Title Update 1 also introduces the Grand Hub, a new communal space for players unlocked at Hunter Rank 16 by speaking with Tetsuzan in Suja. It will serve as a new central point for Squad management and access to Arena Quest leaderboards. The Grand Hub will also feature a new mini-game, Barrell Bowling, and periodic musical performances by the Diva.
Beginning 23 April, players can participate in the game’s first seasonal event, Festival of Accord: Blossomdance. The festival runs until 7 May and features visual changes to the Grand Hub, seasonal meals, limited-time equipment, decorations, and gestures. Arch-tempered Rey Dau will return for another Event Quest during the latter part of the festival, from 30 April to 21 May.
Cosmetic additions will include a free outfit and new customisation options for the character Alma, along with the return of classic gestures and the first paid Cosmetic DLC Pack. This pack will also be included for Premium Deluxe Edition and Cosmetic DLC Pass holders and offers new cosmetic options for hunters, Palicoes, and Pop-Up Camps.
Looking ahead, Capcom has confirmed another update is planned for late May. This will include a crossover with another Capcom title, new features for viewing captured Endemic Life, and additional balance and content adjustments. A second free title update is also scheduled for Winter 2025.
