Bandai Namco Entertainment has finished revealing all the characters to be featured in their upcoming release of DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zero. In total, there will be 182 characters from across the franchise, the largest number of characters in a Budokai Tenkaichi game to date. The game is set to launch on 11 October 2024 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
In a recent update, producer Jun Furutani provided more information on the newly revealed characters and introduced the Episode Battle and Custom Battle modes.
Newly Announced Characters
Following numerous character announcements over the last couple of months, the following characters will bring the playable total up to 182.
- Dragon Ball Super: Cabba, Cabba Super Saiyan, Cabba Super Saiyan 2, Frost, Toppo, and Frieza Force Soldier
- Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan (Z): Broly, Broly Super Saiyan, Broly Legendary Super Saiyan
- Cooler’s Revenge and The Return of Cooler: Cooler, Cooler Final Form, and Metal Cooler
- Super Android 13: Android 13 and Fusion Android 13
- Dead Zone: Super Garlic Jr.
- The World’s Strongest: Dr. Wheelo
- Lord Slug: Lord Slug and Lord Slug Giant Form
- Tree of Might: Turles
- Bojack Unbound: Bojack and Full Power Bojack
- Wrath of the Dragon: Hirudegarn and Tapion
- Fusion Reborn: Janemba, Super Janemba, and Super Gogeta (Z)
- Dragon Ball: Goku (Teen)
Gameplay Modes
Additionally, this latest update confirmed the inclusion of two new gameplay modes, neither of which are surprising inclusions:
Episode Battle: This mode allows players to experience key battles from the anime. Eight characters will be featured, including Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Jiren, Future Trunks, Goku Black, and Frieza. Goku’s storyline is set to be the longest, covering events from the Saiyan invasion on Earth to the Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super.
Custom Battle: Players will have the ability to create and customise their own battles, complete with pre and post-battle cutscenes and effects. These custom scenarios can then be shared with other players, offering a flexible and creative gameplay experience.
