Ravensburger Releases Disney Lorcana TCG Set 5: Shimmering Skies in Australia and New Zealand

Following some rapid-fire releases of the first four seasons to bring ANZ players on-par with the rest of the other supported regions, Ravensburger has officially launched the fifth set of its popular Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game (TCG), titled Shimmering Skies, across local game stores in Australia and New Zealand. This release also marks the beginning of organised play events at over 200 stores throughout the region.

In Shimmering Skies, the world of Lorcana celebrates its recent victory over Ursula, the antagonist of the previous set, Ursula’s Return. The set aims to present players with cards depicting a vibrant festival atmosphere, though a new mystery unfolds as players, known as Illumineers, work to repair the damage caused to the Great Illuminary.

The set highlights Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph with the addition of characters like Vanellope Von Schweetz and Fix-it Felix Jr. Players can expect new gameplay mechanics and an evolving storyline, with the set’s art and design reflecting the dynamic energy of the festival theme. All cards from Shimmering Skies are compatible with existing Disney Lorcana TCG decks and can be combined with cards from previous sets, which cover: The First Chapter, Rise of the Floodborn, Into the Inklands, and Ursula’s Return.

The Shimmering Skies set includes two starter decks featuring Emerald/Steel or Amethyst/Ruby card combinations (AU$29.99, NZ$32.99), booster packs (AU$9.99, NZ$10.99), and a new Illumineer’s Trove (AU$99.99, NZ$109.99). New accessories are also available, including playmats featuring Mirabel from Disney’s Encanto and Belle from Beauty and the Beast (AU$35.99, NZ$39.99), a 9-pocket portfolio with artwork by Nicholas Kole (AU$35.99, NZ$39.99), card sleeves (AU$17.99, NZ$19.99), and deck boxes (AU$10.99, NZ$11.99) showcasing Disney’s Tiana and Aladdin.

The launch of Set 5 also signals the start of organised play for Disney Lorcana across Australia and New Zealand. These events offer collectors, newcomers, and TCG veterans a chance to connect, trade, and compete with fellow Illumineers. Local game stores will host these events, where participants can sign up for the opportunity to win exclusive promo cards, pins, and other prizes. Players interested in partaking should check out their local card shops for opportunities.

Matthias Schoessler, International Sales Director at Ravensburger Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch:

Disney Lorcana is officially available for all Australian and New Zealand Illumineers, and we can’t wait for you all to get hands on with Shimmering Skies. With the start of organised play, we’re excited for local players of all experience levels to visit their local game stores and quest for lore with their fellow Illumineers. Disney Lorcana is a game best experienced with friends and family, and we can’t wait to see you all enjoying the love, fun and magic we put into every facet of the game experience.

Check out my first impressions review of the first two sets!
