Yunyun Syndrome!? Rhythm Psychosis, a psychological rhythm adventure from publisher and developer WSS playground, was today announced, with a broad approximate launch window of 2024 on the PC via Steam.
Yunyun Syndrome!? Rhythm Psychosis follows the story of Qtie, a young hikikomori girl who becomes obsessed with Denpa music. Her fascination leads to severe hallucinations, including a fictitious social media romance with Yunyun, her favourite imaginary online follower—or perhaps a real person. Players will navigate this rhythm-based adventure, dancing in-game to a variety of Denpa beats and posting love letters across the internet to declare Qtie’s affection for Yunyun. The game itself is set to feature dozens of tracks, including “It’s a Cherry Kissing Explosion” by KOTOKO.
As Qtie indulges in her Yunyun Psychosis, the spread of copypasta has unforeseen, catastrophic consequences. Players must uncover the truth about Yunyun’s existence and determine whether Qtie can escape her imagined romance. And the all-important question… “Is one person’s shot at love worth the destruction of the world?”.
The game delves into themes of depression and isolation, set against a vibrant neon hand-drawn digital world enhanced with modern animation. It reflects the social anxieties induced by online interactions, portraying the realities of the modern social media landscape.
Yunyun Syndrome!? Rhythm Psychosis will be available on PC via Steam in 2024, with support for English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese languages.
