Co-developed by WSS Playground and buriki clock, and published by Alliance Arts, it was today announced that the episodic sci-fi puzzle-filled horror adventure game Boyhood’s End will be releasing on PC via Steam Early Access starting 6 September 2024.
Boyhood’s End is set in a future dominated by an AI overlord named “R. Karellen,” who assigns “human scores” to individuals, affecting every aspect of their lives from careers to romantic partners. The protagonist, Giovanni, receives the lowest human score, leading to severe bullying at school. However, an encounter with Campanella, a senior student with the highest human score, sparks an extraordinary sci-fi adventure.
The journey begins with a train ride that evolves into an intergalactic quest through space and time. Giovanni and Campanella’s adventures set out to challenge conventions as they explore dystopian landscapes and utilise Giovanni’s “ancient” coding skills to navigate various challenges. The storyline allows players to interact with historical figures and perform reckless pranks on notable 21st-century leaders, all within a hand-drawn, pixelated visual novel format.
Boyhood’s End will be available with language and subtitle options in English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
