SEGA has today opened physical pre-orders for their upcoming Aniplex-developed game Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board!, the spin-off party game based on the acclaimed Japanese media franchise, which is scheduled to release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch starting 26 April 2024. For more information on how to place pre-orders for this edition, visit SEGA’s official website for the game or consult with your local retailer of video games.
Not concerned about pre-ordering the game but want more information? SEGA also have interested gamers covered in that regard. Two new boards have been shared for the game “Board Two” featuring Tsuzumi Mansion and Mount Natagumo, and “Board Three” showcasing the Mugen Train. These boards come to life with minigames and battles against demons that players will encounter in various stages.
Several minigames are set to feature in Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board!. Some of these include ‘Sneaky Sword Styling’, where players hide from Kanamori while customizing Inosuke’s sword, and ‘Tanjiro’s Total Concentration Training’, which involves assisting Tanjiro in his training. Additionally, there’s a 2v2 ‘Team Memory Matching’ and ‘Knock ‘Em Out! Chanbara Swordplay’, which tests players’ swordplay skills.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board! seeks to transform the universe of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba into an interactive board game. Players will explore iconic landmarks such as Mount Fujikasane and Asakusa, rolling dice to progress through various squares. Each board features day and night cycles, with daytime dedicated to playing events and minigames and nighttime for battling demons.
Players can select from a range of characters, including Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and the nine Hashira. Nezuko appears as a support character, assisting players throughout the game. Additionally, some mini-games will allow you to fight demons using the Joy-Con controller as a Niichirin Sword.
Of course, with media tie-in party games like this often teetering the line between ‘hit’ or ‘miss’, time will tell which side it falls onto.
