The Last of Us Part II Remastered: Enhanced Experience Coming to PS5 in 2024

Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Naughty Dog has confirmed that following their remastered release of The Last of Us Part I, they will be releasing The Last of Us Part II Remastered exclusively on the PlayStation 5 starting 19 January 2024. This definitive edition of the story-driven game invites players to – whether for the first time or subsequent time – immerse themselves in the emotional journeys of Ellie and Abby, complemented by enhanced visuals and more than a few new features.

Some of the new features being introduced in The Last of Us Part II Remastered include:

No Return Mode: A brand-new roguelike survival mode offering randomized encounters and a fresh combat experience. Players can choose from various characters, each with unique traits, and navigate through stealth and combat challenges with dynamic twists.

Guitar Free Play Mode: This mode allows players to play guitar with different characters in various in-game locations, using unlockable instruments and audio FX pedals to customize their musical performances.

Behind-the-Scenes Content: Explore Lost Levels previously cut from the game, complete with developer commentary, providing insight into the game’s creative process. Additionally, enjoy a newly recorded director’s commentary across the campaign’s cutscenes, featuring insights from director Neil Druckmann, narrative lead Halley Gross, and actors Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, and Laura Bailey.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered boasts enhanced graphics, including native 4K output in Fidelity Mode and 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode, alongside an Unlocked Framerate option for TVs supporting VRR. Additionally, the game boasts increased texture resolution, improved shadow quality, animation sampling rate, and more.

Being one of the PlayStation’s flagship titles, you had better believe that The Last of Us Part II Remastered takes advantage of the console’s features. This includes integration of the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features, and a range of accessibility options.

Upgrade Option: The Last of Us Part II Remastered will also feature an upgrade path for those who own the original PlayStation 4 version will be able to upgrade to a digital version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered for $20.00 AUD at launch. Upgrades for disc copies of the PS4 version of The Last of Us Part II are only available if you have a PlayStation 5 console with a disc drive. Owners of PS4 disc copies must insert them into the PS5 every time they want to download or play the PS5 digital version.
