“Rollback Netcode” to Feature in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s PC, PS4 and Switch Ports.

Mere weeks out from the game’s official launch on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, ATLUS West has confirmed that what is dubbed as ‘Rollback Netcode’ will be available in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax from “later this year”. Like any 2D or 3D fighting game, perfect netcode is what helps keep an online multiplayer fight fair, lag-free and reduce the rates of nasty crashes or disconnections.

Acccording to ATLUS West, “rollback netcode is a feature that helps to make online matches as smooth as possible, regardless of the other player’s connection”. Unfortunately it will not be available at launch, but instead expected to roll out from mid-year 2022.

For those unawares, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is the second and, to date, final fighting game spin-off title in the Persona franchise, co-developed by Arc System Works and uniting the characters of Persona 3 and Persona 4 for the first time. Promoted features of the game include:

Ultimax Version – Includes all previously released Persona 4 Arena Ultimax content, including the original Persona 4 Arena story

A Deep Roster of Playable Characters – Persona 3 fan-favorites and “Shadow” versions offer a range of fighting styles to choose from

Dual audio – Choose between Japanese and English VO

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be released on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch starting 17 March 2022.
