While World of Warcraft Classic has been in the territory of its ‘The Burning Crusade’ expansion for a few months now, what about those people who wish to enjoy the original experience on fresh servers once more? Blizzard Entertainment will be opening new realms for the original World of Warcraft Classic under the title World of Warcraft: Season of Mastery.
This will not follow the exact same trajectory as the first updates of World of Warcraft Classic, with some alterations including:
Faster Phase Unlocking
All six planned content phases will be condensed to a one-year timespan, with new phases unlocking every couple of months. The content of each phase includes:
Phase 1 (WoW Classic Season of Mastery Launch)
Molten Core
Onyxia
Maraudon
PvP Honor System and Battlegrounds (up from Phases 3 and 4)
Phase 2
Dire Maul
Azuregos
Kazzak
Phase 3
Blackwing Lair
Darkmoon Faire
Darkmoon deck drops begin
Phase 4
Zul’Gurub
Green Dragons
Phase 5
Ahn’Qiraj War Effort begins
Ahn’Qiraj raids open as the war effort dictates
Phase 6
Naxxramas
Scourge Invasion
Faster Leveling
To accommodate the quicker cadence of content releases, experience gains—specifically those awarded for quest completion—will be increased.
Raid Boss Tuning
Bosses will be tuned slightly harder to match the increases in player power from the 1.12 patch tuning.
Quality of Life Changes
Players can look forward to additional changes to raid encounters (such as disabling world buffs in raids), raid boss debuff changes, increased profession gathering nodes, and more.
Open Beta testing of these realms will commence on 6 October 2021 (AEDT/NZDT), with an official release to follow through at a later date. For more information on the updates being made to the World of Warcraft: Season of Mastery realms, click HERE.
