CD Projekt RED Issue Statement on CyberPunk 2077 Bugs, Refunds and Steps from Here

As someone who is currently in the process of writing up their review of CyberPunk 2077, I can confirm it is one of the harder games to write about. Reviewing a console copy of the game, while it is clearly an ambitious project which is deserving of accolades for its narrative, music/voice acting and even gameplay – the number of bugs it has indicate that more time was needed before launching it on store shelves. After all, you have very few chances to make a good first impression, and presenting a long-time gamer with their first ever PlayStation Error screen within 30 minutes of play is not good… If you keep up with gaming media and influencers even moderately, then the weird, frustrating, and sometimes wonderfully unusual bugs will not be news to you.

Developer CD Projekt RED in response to this, made the following statement on the official CyberPunk 2077 website and social media channels:

CD Projekt RED Issue Statement on CyberPunk 2077 Bugs, Refunds and Steps from Here 1

The key takeaways from this letter are:

  • They apologise for not showing CyberPunk 2077 on base last-generation consoles (where the quality dips down considerably) and therefore not allowing players to make an informed decision on whether to purchase the game on these consoles.
  • They are working on fixing bugs, crashes and the overall game experience. Three patches have been confirmed to date: the first within seven days and another two in January 2021 and February 2021 respectively.
  • They have provided systems to receive refunds if you are not pleased with the experience. Those purchasing digitally will need to go through their respective digital storefront, while you should contact your retailer, then them directly for boxed versions.
